Beautiful Savannah Wedding!

This weekend was April (Matt's sister) and Owen's Wedding in Savanna, Georgia. If you haven't be there, I highly recommend it. Beautiful town, lots of history, shopping, and of course...that good ol' southern cookin'. We ate at Lady and Sons (and saw the sons in person), Barbara Jeans, Uncle Bubbas....etc. We can pretty much eat our way across any city. It's a gift, what can I say.

All of the pictures were taken by Mandy. I was lazy and didn't take one single picture, I don't think. She got some great shots, especially the wedding day.
This is the townhome where we stayed. It was directly adjacent to Forsyth Park, where the wedding was supposed to be. Nice old historic home...hardwood floors....beautifully restored.

This is the home where Jim Williams lived (Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil). I had no intention of reading this book until we came here...I'm only on the first chapter, so we'll see how it goes.

Home of the lawyers who defended Jim Williams and eventually got him off on murder charges.

Historic B and B called the Hamilton-Turner House. If we come back to Savannah, this is high on my list of places to stay. They say it was the first home in Savannah to have electricity. People would come into the square at night to watch them turn on the lights!

There are a few blacksmith shops in town that design these custom gates. You choose your favorite floor and they make it into a drop-dead gorgeous one-of-a-kind gate.

These live oaks are everywhere in Savannah.

April and Owen at the rehearsal dinner.

Ahoy Jaybee!

Forsythe Park has a beautiful fountain...and was supposed to be the site of the wedding. But it ended up raining! Oh Well! Their wedding was so beautiful and sweet you didn't even realize it wasn't planned inside!

This is Chas getting ready at our house before the wedding. Doesn't she look cute!

This is Karen - Matt and April's cousin. Her umbrella was no match for the weather!

These are a little out of order (still learning how to do this!) but this is Mr and Mrs. Owen Joyner! Yay!

The first kiss as husband and wife!

Sherrell and April holding hands before he gave her away. Very sweet.

April made a stunningly beautiful bride. These were taken before the wedding at our townhome.

The reception was cozy and just perfect. Congrats Owen and April!

Delicious, Thy Name is Broadmoor

Today we went to Church with the Finneys and Campos' at the Northeast church. It was an enjoyable day and I got to see some friends of mine I went to FC with.

For lunch...correction "brunch" we went to the legendary Broadmoor. If there is a better buffet brunch, I want to know where it is so we can plan a trip. Brunch is held every Sunday with offerings like beef, shrimp, omelets made to order, waffles, biscuits, gravy, every fruit you can imagine, every vegetable you can imagine, crepes made to order (they tasted exactly like they really do in France), all other kinds of deserts ready to be dipped in an enormous chocolate fountain, and my favorite...bananas foster made especially for you. Oh, and they have ice sculptures and a pianist playing in the background. Mmmmm.....Matt and I ate ourselves into oblivion.

This is the front of the Broadmoor hotel.
As it turns out, Broadmoor has its own village and every corner is picture perfect, covered with flowers, and expensive.

I took a pic of Matt with his first course of breakfast.
This is me with dessert. So what if I have two plates:-)
There have been many moments where I really wished fru were here, but this was one of them. She would have no problem walking around taking pictures of the buffet...making us pose with the chefs making omelets....that sort of thing. Because I'm all hiding in the corner trying to get a pic without anybody seeing!
After brunch we walked around the Broadmoor lake. It would be really cool to stay here.

The bottom pic was taken tonight at dusk. We only have one day left in Colorado...I can't believe it!

Driving Driving Driving Royal Gorge Flying W

Most of our day today was spent driving. We covered over 300 miles from Durango (in the SW of the state) to Colorado Springs (in the East of the state). The weather was pretty dreary today, but we did stop at the Royal Gorge Suspension Bridge. It cost 23 dollars per person to cross the bridge which is why these pictures are from the side!

They also have a skycoaster that you can swing out over the gorge. See the person? Freaky!
And they have a gondola ride across the gorge which I've heard is pretty cool. We didn't have time to do any of the activities so we kept on moving toward Colorado Springs.
Can you see JFK in repose?

When we got into Co Springs we checked into the hotel and then headed over to the Flying W Ranch. In the summer, they serve chuckwagon suppers to huge crowds. In the winter, its a steakhouse with a country/western/bluegrass stage show. It was pretty cool. They played songs like Tumbling Tumbleweed, Ghost Riders in the Sky, and the Orange Blossom Special. The performers were incredible and they also served you your dinner...so two for one!

The Flyin W Ranch is supposedly still a working cattle ranch. They also have a realistic little western town set up with blacksmiths, rug weavers, shops, etc.

Anyway, we're exhausted at this point so we're losing steam big time. Some rest is definately in order...we miss everybody!

Come on Ride that Train...

Took a train ride this morning...
It was a narrow gauge train which basically means that the track is narrow. You can really tell the difference when you look at it. It's also slower and more bumpier than regular trains, but we enjoyed the ride.

View of the Animas river from the train.
